We're Margaret Motamed and Jill Rege, two moms of special needs kids, and
we're looking for a little help.
When we started down this bio-med/special diets road to help our boys—both
affected by ASD—we needed a roadmap. Like you, we've pieced together new ways to
feed our sons, to think about how we feed them, to hook up with the right
professional help, and to move forward. Margaret decided what she really needed
was a book of tips— the little nuggets that make life easier. And in some cases
make this special diet and biomedical treatment road doable.
Jill offered to help and now we're actively putting together a book of how-tos
from everyone who has a tip to offer. This book will be a fundraiser for our
sons' school, Hope Technology School (www.hopetechschool.org), with all author
proceeds going to the school.
We NEED YOUR HELP! Please consider sharing with us your favorite tips… What have
you found to be helpful? What have you discovered works for you, your child,
your family? How do you sneak broccoli in? What do you pack for lunch?
The first section we're working on is on special diets (We've included the
proposed table of contents below).
Please send your tips to
and tell us whether we can include your tip anonymously or with attribution. If
you are willing to be interviewed either by phone or email, please let us know
that, too. Please feel free to forward this note to other lists or to friends
who might be able to help.
Thank you for your help and valuable insight.
Margaret Motamed and Jill Rege
PS: Below is the draft table of contents:
Parent friendly tips for kids on special diets
(All author proceeds for the book to be given to Hope Technology
School)
Welcome to our resource book of ideas and tips for parents of kids on special
diets. We compiled this book of tips to share many tips from our varied
perspectives, hoping to inspire and help parents with the challenges of special
diets and special environmental needs.
In writing this book we speak to you as parents of special needs kids. We are
not doctors, nutritionists, or other experts in this area! We hope that you will
find this to be a parent friendly book full of great tips and ideas. And we are
very thankful to the many parents and experts who contributed their ideas to the
book! And most of all, we dedicate this book to the children, staff, and parents
of Hope Technology School.
